November 4 is right around the corner. This nation is energized for the November 4th election and millions of new voters are eager to cast their first ballot. That's why APIAVote is inviting you to capture footage on all the voting activities.

 

Asian & Pacific Islander American Vote & Center for Asian American Media wants you to help us - and AAPIs all over the nation - know what civic engagement looks like in your AAPI community. We want you to tell the stories of AAPIs new to the voting process and their experiences. We want to tell future AAPI voters why voting is important and how high the stakes are.

 

This is the election of a lifetime. Help APIAVote & CAAM document this historic election.

 

Entries will be displayed on APIAVote and CAAM's youtube channels as well as their website.  Additionally, selected footage will contribute to a larger video piece about AAPIs and political participation.

Lights, Camera, Action Vote! Rules and Regulations

THESE RULES GOVERN ALL ASPECTS OF PARTICIPATION

1. Introduction. APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media present Lights, Camera, Action, Vote! APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media are requesting people to submit video documentation of all the voting activities in the AAPI community. One (1) person who has submitted a video will be selected at random from all qualified entries submitted. This selected person will receive a $100 gift card from a store of the selected person's choice.

2. Timing. Lights, Camera, Action, Vote! begins on October 31,2008 and ends on November 5th ,2008

3. Eligibility. By participating, entrant agrees to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media, which are final and binding in all respects. VOID WHEREVER PROHIBITED OR RESTRICTED BY LAW.

4. How to Enter. Upload your edited or unedited clips (3-5 minutes) via sendspace.com, wikisend.com, etc. Send link to submissions and questions to Alvina Yeh: alvina@apiavote.org//202-725-5651. The deadline to submit videos is November 30, 2008 All participants submitting a video agree to these rules outlined within this page. All entries become the property of the APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media and will not be returned.

5. Rights. Each entrant is responsible for releases for the completion of their respective videos. Regarding music releases, entrants must have the rights to any music used in its video. Entrants shall defend, indemnify and hold APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media and their respective affiliated entities, and all sponsors harmless from and against any and all claims, demands, losses, damages, or other payments, including, without limitation, reasonable attorney fees, arising out of any breach or alleged breach of any of your warranties or representations herein. Releases must be available upon request.

6. Selection of Raffle Winner. The person selected a random from all qualified video submissions will be selected on December 1, 2008 The winner of the raffle will be announced on December 2, 2009

The Potential Raffle winner will be notified by email within ten (10) days of announcement of the winner. If a potential winner cannot be contacted within ten (10) days of the first attempt to contact him/her, the potential winner forfeits the prize. In that event, an alternate entrant will be selected in his/her place from among all qualified entries. Potential winner must comply with all terms and conditions of these Official Rules.

7. Prize. One (1) $100 gift card from a store of the raffle winner's choice. Arrangements for the fulfillment of the Raffle Prize will be made by APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media. APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to substitute the Raffle Prize, or any portion thereof, with prizes of comparable value. The Raffle Prize Winner, as a condition of receiving the Raffle Prize must sign (i) an affidavit of eligibility and liability to release APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media and their corporate parents, subsidiaries, affiliated entities, advertising agencies, and any other participating sponsors, and their respective employees, from any and all liability, claims, demands and causes of action for personal injury and/or damage, theft, loss, or any other harm suffered in connection with Lights, Camera, Action, Vote! or the use or acceptance of the Raffle Prize (ii) except where prohibited, a promotional release granting the right to use his or her name, likeness and video for advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation. Entry into Lights, Camera, Action, Vote! constitutes each entrant's agreement to sign such releases. Upon receipt of any part of the Raffle Prize, Raffle Prize Winner is required to comply with any and all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations related thereto. The Raffle Prize winner is solely responsible for any and all applicable fees and taxes associated with prize receipt and use.

8. Publicity. (a) Entrants hereby agree to submit their entries under the following terms and conditions: (i) that APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media may use entrants videos, and any ideas, concepts, materials, in whole or in part, contained in an entry to advertise, promote, and publicize APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media without further payment or consideration; (ii) entrants have obtained all rights, permissions and licenses necessary for APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media to use the entries for any purpose; (iii) that no entry, or any part thereof, infringes any trademark or copyright or otherwise violates anyone's right of privacy or publicity; (iv) entrants indemnify and hold harmless APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media from any claims, suits, losses damages and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) that arise from any breach of the following conditions. All entrants agree to the foregoing and in addition agree to obtain, upon request of APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media, any documentation and releases necessary to prove their unrestricted ownership in all materials contained in their entries and their right to use such materials without limitation for any purpose. (b) Entrants grants to APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media the nonexclusive, irrevocable right and license to exhibit, broadcast, copy, reproduce, encode, compress, encrypt, incorporate data into, edit, broadcast, rebroadcast, transmit, record, publicly perform, and distribute and synchronize in timed relation to visual elements, the entrants videos and the entrants (such as personal information and/or elements, including but not limited to name(s), trademarks, tradenames, likenesses, photographs, biographical materials and all other graphic and/or textual material), and/or any portions or excerpts thereof, in any manner, an unlimited number of times, in any and all media, now known or hereafter devised, throughout the world, in perpetuity to advertise, promote, and publicize APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media, and/or any of Producers' worldwide programming services in all media throughout the universe and may authorize others to do so without further payment or consideration. Such advertising, promotion, and publicity may include portions and excerpts, in addition to cut-in, synchronized, dubbed and superimposed versions of the Materials. APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media may use and authorize others to use Participant's name, voice, biography, and likeness as well as those of artists or individuals who rendered services in connection with the entrants videos in any media for the purposes of advertising, promotion or publicizing the use without further payment or consideration by APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media.

9. Release. By receipt of any prize, winner agrees that APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media, it's respective subsidiaries and affiliated companies, and the agents, employees, directors and officers of these companies (the "Released Parties"), are not liable whatsoever for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize or from winner's participation in Lights, Camera, Action, Vote!.

10. Limitations of Liability. By participating in this Lights, Camera, Action, Vote!, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and by the decisions of APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media which are final in all matters relating to Lights, Camera, Action, Vote!. No responsibility is assumed for incorrect or inaccurate entry information whether caused by an entrant, any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in Lights, Camera, Action, Vote! or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the entries. Neither APIAVote nor the Center for Asian American Media is responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or players on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to persons or property, including but not limited to entrant's computer, which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from entrant's participation in Lights, Camera, Action, Vote!. If, for any reason, Lights, Camera, Action, Vote! is not capable of running as planned, including, but not limited to, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media, or any and all sponsors which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of Lights, Camera, Action, Vote!, or for any reason APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media deem it necessary, APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media reserves the right in their sole and unequivocal discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Lights, Camera, Action, Vote! and/or the prizes. All interpretations of these Official Rules and the decisions of APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media are final.
By submitting materials to Lights, Camera, Action, Vote!, entrants agrees that APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media, it's respective subsidiaries and affiliated companies, and the agents, employees, directors and officers of these companies (the "Released Parties"), are not liable whatsoever for any injuries, losses or damages of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the participation in Lights, Camera, Action, Vote!.

11. Disputes. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of entrant, and APIAVote and the Center for Asian American Media in connection with Lights, Camera, Action, Vote! shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of California, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions (whether of the State of California or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than the State of California.
