Making History at the 2016 Presidential Election Forum

Last Friday, on August 12, 2016, 40 Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander organizations came together with thousands of community members to hear from four presidential campaigns, in what is one of the largest and diverse gatherings of AAPIs in history.

Over 2500 community members, journalists, professionals, civil rights advocates, business leaders, and others heard from Former President Bill Clinton, representing Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes, representing Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, as well as from Libertarian presidential nominee Governor Gary Johnson and Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein.

This Forum was possible only in partnership and thanks to the power of the AAPI community and leaders from all sectors. This historic Forum would not have been successful without the dozens of watch parties across the country in nearly 20 states which broadened the reach of the Forum, as well as the organizations that moved their national conventions, meetings, and trainings to Las Vegas. We would also like to especially recognize the leadership of our local partner the Asian Community Development Council (ACDC) with their outreach to the Las Vegas community.

We hope that the energy of this Forum has motivated you to take action this year—and in elections to come. Join us to mobilize our communities by spreading the message of voting and encourage your networks to register to vote today!
