New Yorkers: Don't forget to get out and vote on Tuesday, September 13th in the State and Local Primary Elections! All polling locations will be open from 6 AM - 9 PM.
MinKwon Center's Civic Participation program focuses on voter registration, outreach, education, mobilization, and protection efforts to combat community disenfranchisement. MinKwon's voter outreach efforts consists of registering our local Korean, Chinese, and immigrant population, as well as door knocking and phone banking in our surrounding community to encourage our neighbors to get out the vote.
In addition, we focus on educational efforts by producing voter guides, candidate face sheets, and other materials so that voters know their rights and are knowledgeable about local issues. MinKwon also co-hosts candidate forums in which voters can directly engage with their candidates and representatives, and hear their stances on important local issues.
APA VOICE is a nonpartisan coalition of 20 organizations that work together to produce Civic Engagement work within their local communities. In addition to door knocking, phone banking, voter education events, and registering voters, members of the APA VOICE coalition also collaborate on pan-organization events. We have also partnered up to release the APA VOICE 2016 Voter Guide to target limited English proficiency individuals, which is available in Spanish, Bangla, Nepali, Korean, and Chinese.
Minkwon and APA VOICE are APIAVote's partners in New York, and we're proud to support their work this year and beyond.
Join APIAVote and Rock the Vote to #PowerUp this year's election! Building our community's collective power begins with our votes, so join our campaign by sharing with your friends and networks, getting them to register and pledge to rock the vote, and to vote on November 8th!
