You are invited to participate in the festivities planned for the 2020 Democratic National Convention and Republican National Convention. Join APIAVote, Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies and the National Council of Asian Pacific American for an AAPI convention mixer at 3:30 PM EST. At 4:30 PM EST, a three-part event will provide an overview of the AAPI electorate, key policy issues for the AAPI community and tips and tricks on how to public a successful op-ed geared towards the AAPI community.
The program will be as follows:
- An overview of the AAPI electorate will be provided by APIAVote alongside trends from various AAPI survey data. We will also provide insights from our 2020 online survey conducted by AAPI Data and APIAVote.
- Next, we will discuss the NCAPA 2020 Policy Platform, the premiere, comprehensive policy document that provides an overview of the priorities of the AAPI community. This platform reflects the collaborative work of 37 of the largest AAPI nonprofit and civil rights organizations in the country; and covers issues ranging from health, immigration, civil rights and more.
- Finally, APAICS will review the points necessary to have a successful op-ed published. It is crucial to have AAPI voices and narratives that demonstrate how public policy affects the community. Op-eds can advance an agenda and highlight your experience as an Asian American Pacific Islander in society. [**APAICS is issue neutral so the points taught will be relevant to the technical aspects of formulating the op-ed components**]
