    Left, Right or Center? Asian American Voters in 2014

    The data on Asian American public opinion reveals that Asian American voters are “up for grabs” in terms of party identification. Given that the Asian American electorate is still making up its mind on political parties, it is surprising to still find low rates of electoral contact. Ethnic media is an important source of political information, especially for Chinese American and Vietnamese American voters. Asian Americans tend to favor the Democratic Party on many key issues. Overall, voter enthusiasm is the same than before.

    Behind the Numbers: Post Election Survey of Asian American and Pacific Islander Voters in 2012

    As the fastest-growing racial groups in the United States, the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities demonstrated their strength and commitment to civic participation by turning out in record numbers this past election. Our findings emphasize that the Asian American and Pacific Islander voting blocs are truly up for grabs. Although overall political engagement increased, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders do not strongly identify with any party. They vote for candidates who support and promote progress on issues that matter to their families and communities.
